" I like Spring, but it is too young. I like Summer, but it is too proud. So, I like best of all Autumn, because it's tone is mellower, it's colors are richer, and it is tinged with a little bit of sorrow. It's golden richness speaks not of the innocence of Spring, nor the power of Summer, but of the kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and is content." ~ Lin Yutang ~ "Teach us to number our days, that we might present to Thee a heart of wisdom..." Psalm 90: 12 --- This is an old picture. ( double click photo to see kiddos) My cherubic baby boys have transformed into winsome young sons, one moment, knight swords at the ready, the next moment, overtaken by uncontrollable giggles. I give them giant bear hugs each day, lifting them off the ground ( while i still can) to try to "keep them little!" Yet they are growing up in God's time... bittersweet for us mamas, huh? I'd like to cling to the luminous present, push away unknown change and growth. It is a comfort to know we can set our watch by God's time... do we really own our days... or our children? We have a precious Father who tenderly holds both.

Annie....I understand the wanting to hold on to those little ones. Time just doesn't seem to be on a mother's side. I do all that I can to stop it for special, little moments with each child. I try to store up all those stolen moments in a hope to be to bring them back to my memory at a later time when life is not so crazy.

What a comfort to know He holds our days...each one. And there isn't a moment in our lives wasted or without purpose.
As each day, each hour, ticks by and I have yet to hold my daughter, I take so much comfort in knowing that He holds her before I can... and He has planned for the sweet moment that I will. He will make it okay. He will protect the joy. My watch by His time. I LOVE that. Remind me, please, when I would desire anything but His timing.
